Motorcycle riders will take to the roads this weekend in an event to raise money to help rural firefighters. The Illinois and Indiana Firefighters Association is hosting the annual 9/11 Memorial Ride on Saturday and Sunday. This is the first year the association is coordinating the ride, which was started in 2001.  

Dan Hudson, a baseball player with deep roots in Amherst County, completed a rapid rise through the minor leagues this season to pitch with the Chicago White Sox last week. Hudson is the grandson of Pat Hudson and the late William Hudson, of Clifford. William Hudson was a well-known baseball player in Amherst County in the late 1940s and once had a tryout with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, according to relatives.  

Gutterridge Harley-Davidson will sponsor a two-day, 9/11 Memorial Ride on Saturday and Sunday. Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. with departure at 11 a.m. The ride will end around 4 p.m. at the Westville American Legion on South State Street. THE Robins' strong league form deserted them as they slipped to a heavy defeat at the hands of Barkingside in an Essex League Cup group match on Saturday. Barkingside were simply too good for Sawbridgeworth. After Dan Hudson fired a shot straight at visitors' keeper Jason Roberts on 10 minutes, play quickly switched to the other end where Barkingside forced four corners in quick succession.  

CIRENCESTER finished fourth in Division 1 of the Gloucestershire County Cricket League after a last-day defeat at home to Frocester thirds. After losing the toss and being put into bat, Cirencester got off to a flier with Rich Hudson taking three boundaries off the opening over.
